How to Choose a Hotel on Cape Cod
By Bill Torrey
There are thousands of hotels, motels, inns, campsites, cottages, and bed and breakfasts to stay at on Cape Cod. With all of these choices, how do you know where you're staying will be the perfect pick? First, you should decide whether or not you'd like to stay in the convenience of a motel, the beauty of a summer cottage, enjoy the perks of a hotel, or revel in the luxury of a bed and breakfast. Let's go over some of the specifics of staying at these Cape Cod accommodations so we can find out which one is right for you. Motels These might not be the nicest places to stay, but they often fall within budget, are the cheapest places to stay on Cape Cod, and are all on one level. You can also get up and get going quick from a motel, because checkout is often fast and parking is simple. On Cape Cod, the motels are nothing fancy. Usually, you'll get free continental breakfast and sometimes there's a pool onsite. Staying at motels is a great option for anyone who won't be around the motel often, but instead enjoying the local shops, restaurants, and beaches. Why waste the money when you won't be there? Hotels The advantage of hotels on the Cape is that they are often owned by larger companies. That might not sound like a benefit, but it actually can be. When you have a problem with a smaller hotel, you're usually dealing with the owners. If the owners disagree with you, you're out of luck. If you have a problem with the larger chain hotels, you can always complain to the headquarters. They also have to meet a certain standard or quality, so if you aren't happy with your stay, they might be able to help you. Bed and Breakfasts On Cape Cod, bed and breakfasts are one of the nicest routes you can go with your stay. They have the best food, the nicest rooms, and some of the best views. These residences are often close to where the action is, adjacent to town centers or village centers. The downside of a bed and breakfast is the hours of operation. If you're coming in late, you may have to make special arrangements with the owners or innkeepers prior to your arrival. All things considered, B & B's are really a great way to see the Cape. Cottages The roads on Cape Cod are skinny, they wind, and they weave. These are old roads, and the homes are just as quaint and rustic. Cottage rentals are a great way to see Cape Cod, and offer some of the most privacy out of all of the options listed. If you're looking to get away from the crowds and feel like a resident, cottages can offer some much needed solitude. Before you make any reservations, always check Trip Advisor or Google the name of the accommodations. You'll often find plenty of online reviews, photos, and tips for staying at that specific hotel. As a rule of thumb, accommodations on Cape Cod book fast. Book yours early, or head there in the off season to beat the crowds after Columbus Day.

I've never been there but would love to see it. Generally we try to stay in bed and breakfasts but I'm willing to try anything.
